In a display of remarkable courage and presence of mind, a Delhi Police head constable single-handedly thwarted an armed robbery attempt at a busy bus stand in the national capital. The incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, saw the policewoman confront three assailants armed with knives.

Confrontation at the Bus Stand

The act of bravery took place on December 8 near the Peeragarhi flyover in the Mangolpuri area. Head Constable Sushila, a resident of Sadh Nagar, was waiting for a bus around 1:30 PM when she was approached by three men. The situation escalated quickly as the men brandished knives and threatened to stab her if she did not surrender her mobile phone.

A Brave Resistance and Swift Action

Despite being outnumbered and under direct threat, Head Constable Sushila did not succumb to fear. When one of the assailants snatched her phone, she immediately resisted. Demonstrating incredible grit, she managed to catch hold of the robber and raised a loud alarm to alert the public. Her decisive action caused the other two accomplices to panic and flee the scene.

The accused she caught was later identified as a resident of Prem Nagar. He was apprehended on the spot by the brave constable. The stolen mobile phone was recovered promptly and returned to its rightful owner, ensuring no loss of property.

The bravery displayed by Head Constable Sushila did not go unnoticed. Commissioner of Police Satish Golchha personally lauded her act of courage. Her quick thinking and refusal to be victimized turned a potential crime of opportunity into an example of civic duty and police valor.
