Delhi Police Apprehends Relative in POCSO Case After Teen's Diary Reveals Childhood Abuse

Delhi Police have apprehended a relative of an 18-year-old girl who was murdered last year. The man, now in his twenties, faces allegations of sexually assaulting the victim when she was a minor. Police took this action seven months after the girl's tragic death in a south Delhi forest.

Diary Discovery Leads to Case Registration

The case unfolded when the girl's mother found her diary while sorting through her belongings after her death. The teenager had written detailed entries describing sexual abuse she endured between the ages of six and twelve. The accused relative was also a minor at the time of the alleged assaults.

According to police sources, the diary revealed that the accused repeatedly threatened to harm the girl if she told anyone about the abuse. This discovery prompted authorities to register a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act last November.

Police Investigation and Apprehension

After registering the POCSO case, Delhi Police began tracing the accused relative. Earlier this week, they successfully apprehended him. Police clarified they apprehended rather than arrested him because he committed the alleged crimes as a minor.

The investigation revealed that the college student was murdered on June 1 last year. Her 18-year-old classmate allegedly committed the crime. The girl's mother reported her missing on the day of the incident when she failed to return home from college.

Murder Investigation Details

Police stated that the victim called her mother around noon on that fateful day, saying she would return home shortly. Later, the family received a call from the father of the accused classmate. He claimed his son had been attacked in the forest and hospitalized.

The victim's sister told police that the accused's father initially claimed the girl had attacked the boy with a knife. However, after police apprehended the classmate, he confessed to calling the girl to the forest and taking her to a secluded area.

The accused admitted to stabbing and strangling the victim. He also attempted to burn her body before going to a hospital with minor injuries. Police recovered the crime weapon following his disclosure, which led them to the girl's body.

Legal Proceedings and Family Allegations

Authorities registered a murder case under sections 103(1) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the classmate. The victim's father has made additional allegations against the accused classmate. He claims the boy harassed his daughter even after she stopped speaking to him months before the murder.

The father stated that the accused would come to their house to argue with the girl. He also confronted her once at a language class and twisted her hand. These incidents suggest ongoing tension between the victim and her classmate before the fatal attack.

This complex case involves multiple layers of investigation, from the historical sexual abuse revealed in the diary to the recent murder. Delhi Police continue their work on both aspects of this tragic story that has devastated a family and raised serious questions about child protection and justice.
