Delhi Anti-Narcotics Team Nabs Alleged Drug Peddler in Kanpur Dehat, Confiscates Charas Worth Rs 15 Lakh
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, an anti-narcotics cell team from Delhi, in coordination with local police, arrested an alleged drug peddler in Kanpur Dehat and seized 4 kilograms of charas valued at approximately Rs 15 lakh. The operation, which took place on Tuesday evening, was executed based on crucial information obtained from another accused previously arrested in a connected drug trafficking case.
Details of the Raid and Arrest
The anti-narcotics team, hailing from Delhi's Dwarka area, conducted a targeted raid at the residence of Brijmohan, a resident of Guriyapur in Kanpur Dehat, on Tuesday night. During the operation, law enforcement officials successfully apprehended Brijmohan and confiscated the substantial quantity of charas from his premises. Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rajesh Pandey confirmed the details, stating that the collaborative effort between Delhi and local police was instrumental in the successful outcome.
Background and Investigation
The arrest of Brijmohan is linked to an earlier case where Delhi's anti-narcotics team had arrested Mayank, a native of Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, on February 14. Mayank was found in possession of 249 grams of charas and was taken into custody from the Chhawla area in Delhi, where he had been residing temporarily. During subsequent interrogation, Mayank provided critical information that led investigators to Brijmohan, enabling the recent raid and arrest in Kanpur Dehat.
Legal Proceedings and Next Steps
Following the arrest, Delhi Police is now preparing to seek transit remand for Brijmohan to facilitate his transfer to Delhi for further legal proceedings. This development underscores the ongoing efforts by authorities to dismantle drug networks and curb the illicit trade of narcotics across regions. The seizure of such a large quantity of charas highlights the scale of the operation and the commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat drug-related crimes effectively.
