Delhi Police Crack Preet Vihar Murder Case, Arrest One Adult and Apprehend Four Minors
In a significant breakthrough, Delhi Police have made arrests in connection with the brutal murder of a 25-year-old man whose body was discovered near a railway underpass in East Delhi's Preet Vihar area last week. The police have arrested one adult and apprehended four minors, shedding light on a crime that had initially baffled investigators.
Details of the Arrests and Apprehensions
The arrested individual has been identified as Aman, a resident of Mandawali in East Delhi. According to police records, Aman has a criminal history, having been previously booked in three separate criminal cases. The four minors apprehended in connection with the murder are juveniles, aged between 14 and 16 years. All suspects are now in police custody as the investigation continues.
Background of the Victim and the Crime
The victim, identified as Deva, originally hailed from Rama Bai in Kanpur and was living under a railway bridge in Mandawali. Police investigations revealed that Deva was allegedly involved in theft and snatching incidents, along with the accused individuals. The murder is believed to have stemmed from a dispute over the sharing of money among them.
"A quarrel reportedly broke out over the distribution of money, leading to a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, the accused beat up Deva and attacked him with stones and knives, resulting in fatal injuries," stated a police officer involved in the case.
Discovery of the Body and Police Investigation
The case came to light on January 22, when a head constable on patrol duty spotted the body near the railway underpass close to Hotel Mona International on PPG Road. Initially, the deceased was unidentified, prompting authorities to send the body to Hedgewar Hospital for a medico-legal examination. The body was subsequently kept at the mortuary of Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.
A murder case was registered at the Preet Vihar police station under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Given the gravity and blind nature of the case, multiple specialized teams were formed to track down the perpetrators.
"Considering the severity and blind nature of the case, we formed multiple teams from the Anti-Narcotics Squad, Special Staff of the East district, and the local police station. These teams conducted extensive CCTV camera analysis and technical surveillance to trace the movements of the deceased prior to the incident," explained DCP (East) Abhishek Dhania.
Breakthrough in the Investigation
Through meticulous investigation, the police identified the four suspects. During questioning, Aman allegedly confessed to his involvement in the murder. In a crucial development, a blood-stained shirt, which he was reportedly wearing at the time of the crime, was recovered at his instance. This evidence has bolstered the police case against the accused.
The arrests and apprehensions mark a significant step forward in solving this heinous crime, bringing a measure of justice to the victim's family and highlighting the diligent efforts of the Delhi Police in tackling serious offenses in the capital.
