Delhi Police Crack Model Town Attempted Murder Case, Arrest Accused

The Delhi Police have successfully solved an attempted murder case in the Model Town area, apprehending a 19-year-old man for allegedly stabbing a youngster multiple times. Officials announced the arrest on Saturday, marking a significant breakthrough in the investigation.

Arrest and Investigation Details

The accused, identified as Shyam Sunder, also known as Shyamlal, is a resident of Rajpura Gurmandi in north Delhi. He was captured by a dedicated team from the Model Town police station, leading to the resolution of the case registered earlier this week.

According to police reports, the incident stemmed from a complaint by Kanchan Kumari, who alleged that Shyam Sunder had been harassing her for some time. She reported that he made lewd gestures whenever she passed through the neighborhood, prompting her to warn him to stop or face consequences from her husband and brother.

Escalation to Violence

In response to the warning, the accused allegedly threatened Kanchan Kumari, claiming he would kill her husband and brother if she involved them. The situation escalated on the night of March 12, around 8:30 PM, when Shyam Sunder attacked the woman's brother with a knife, stabbing him three to four times before fleeing the scene.

Following the attack, a formal case was registered, and a special team was formed to track down the perpetrator. The team, comprising Sub-Inspector Akansh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jagat, and Constable Chanderpal, operated under the supervision of SHO Inspector Ashok Giri and ACP Suresh Chander.

Police Efforts and Confession

The investigation involved conducting several raids at possible hideouts based on gathered inputs. These efforts culminated in the apprehension of the accused. During interrogation, Shyam Sunder allegedly confessed to the crime, revealing that he had been harassing the victim's sister for an extended period.

He explained that when the victim and his family confronted him about his inappropriate behavior, he developed a grudge. Acting out of anger, he later attacked the youngster with a knife, leading to the attempted murder charge.

This arrest underscores the Delhi Police's commitment to addressing violent crimes and ensuring community safety in the Model Town area.
