Delhi Man Kills Tenant Over Suspected Affair, Confesses

New Delhi: A 35-year-old man allegedly murdered his tenant in northwest Delhi's Shalimar Bagh on Tuesday evening, suspecting an illicit relationship between the victim and his wife, police said.

The man, identified as Virender, a fruit seller at Azadpur Mandi and a resident of Indira Colony, later walked into Shalimar Bagh police station in bloodstained clothes and confessed to the crime. He was immediately arrested.

According to police, the incident came to light around 4:20 pm when Virender approached the cops and claimed that he killed his tenant, Kanhaiya, 29, who ran a small clinic. A police team accompanied him to the jhuggi in Indira Colony, where he pointed out the crime scene.

Inside the jhuggi, police found Kanhaiya lying on a bed with his throat slit and multiple stab injuries. The alleged murder weapon was recovered from the spot, and Virender was still wearing bloodstained clothes at the time, officers said.

“During preliminary inquiry, it was found that Virender suspected Kanhaiya of having an illicit relationship with his wife. This suspicion is believed to have led to the fatal attack,” a senior police officer said. Investigators examined CCTV footage, which confirmed the presence of the accused at the scene around the time of the incident.

A case has been registered under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events, police said.
