Delhi Police Arrest Factory Worker for Alleged Kidnapping of 3-Year-Old Girl
In a swift operation, Delhi Police have apprehended a 47-year-old man for the alleged kidnapping of a 3-year-old girl from the Wazirpur Industrial Area in northwest Delhi. The incident, which unfolded late on Sunday night, triggered an immediate response from law enforcement, leading to the child's safe recovery and the suspect's arrest.
Late-Night Alert and Police Response
Around 11 pm on Sunday, the Ashok Vihar police station received a PCR call reporting the alleged kidnapping of the young girl by a man on a motorcycle. Authorities promptly registered a case under Section 137 (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), initiating a thorough investigation into the distressing event.
CCTV Footage and Identification of the Accused
Police officers meticulously analysed CCTV footage from adjacent streets and industrial units within the Wazirpur Industrial Area (WPIA). This crucial evidence led to the identification of the accused, identified as Amit, who was employed at a local metal factory. The footage clearly depicted Amit kidnapping the girl and transporting her on his motorcycle, providing a vital lead in the case.
Live Tracing and Arrest in Abandoned Park
Utilising the contact number obtained from Amit's workplace, police placed him under live tracing to monitor his movements in real-time. Following his location, the investigative team was directed to an abandoned park near the Budh Vihar police station, where Amit was discovered with the child. A senior police officer confirmed, "Our team located him there with the child, leading to his immediate arrest."
Recovery and Reunion
The accused was taken into custody, and his motorcycle was seized as part of the investigation. Most importantly, the 3-year-old girl was safely recovered and has since been reunited with her relieved family, bringing a positive conclusion to the harrowing ordeal.
This incident underscores the effectiveness of modern policing techniques, including CCTV surveillance and technological tracking, in addressing crimes against children in urban areas like Delhi.
