In a tragic incident that has shocked the capital, a 24-year-old man was killed and his friend seriously injured in a suspected hit-and-run accident on the Ring Road flyover in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh area on Tuesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Vijay, a resident of Rohini Sector 20, who earned his livelihood by playing the dhol at weddings and local functions. His friend, Monu (25), a resident of Aman Vihar, sustained serious injuries in the collision and is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital. Police Investigation Reveals Details of Early Morning Tragedy
According to DCP (west) Darade Sharad Bhaskar, preliminary inquiries indicate that the two friends had visited Vijay's sister's house in Naraina around 5:30 am and departed approximately half an hour later. They were returning to Rohini when the accident occurred on the flyover. Another senior police officer noted that evidence suggests the scooter was hit by a heavy vehicle, possibly a car, based on the damage observed at the scene.
Legal Action Initiated as Authorities Search for Culprit
A case has been registered at the Punjabi Bagh police station under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 106 (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are actively scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the vehicle involved and apprehend the driver responsible for this devastating incident.
