Delhi High Court Takes Stern Stand Against Rajpal Yadav in Rs 9 Crore Cheque Bounce Case
The Delhi High Court has delivered a firm verdict in the long-standing cheque bounce case involving actor Rajpal Yadav, rejecting his plea for additional time to arrange funds and ordering his immediate surrender to prison authorities.

On February 2, the Delhi High Court had issued a clear directive ordering Rajpal Yadav to appear before prison authorities on February 4 regarding outstanding dues of Rs 9 crore in the cheque bounce case. However, in a subsequent development on Wednesday, the actor sought more time specifically to arrange Rs 50 lakh as per the court's earlier order.
The High Court, while acknowledging Yadav's commitment to repay the complainant, noted with concern his consistent failure to comply with tribunal directions. Despite the actor filing a plea requesting additional time to gather the substantial sum, the court remained unmoved and dismissed his request outright.
Justice Sharma's Firm Stance Against Repeated Non-Compliance
When Yadav was instructed once again to surrender by Wednesday, his legal counsel attempted to secure an additional week to arrange the necessary funds. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, however, made the court's position unequivocally clear, stating that no further indulgence would be granted in this matter.
"I rejected these submissions on that day itself and granted you two more days to surrender," Justice Sharma remarked, as quoted by Hindustan Times. "I don't think there is any ground. You were to surrender on a particular day but you were granted two days because you said you were in Bombay. Today you have to surrender at 4 o'clock."
Pattern of Non-Compliance and Court's Growing Impatience
The court took strong exception to the actor's repeated failures to adhere to its directives, noting a consistent pattern of non-compliance that has characterized this prolonged legal battle. The bench observed that Yadav had engaged in similar conduct at least 15-20 times in the past, demonstrating a clear disregard for judicial orders and undertakings.
"His conduct has been mentioned in the last order," the court stated. "He has not complied with any order, any undertaking... I don't think there is any ground for him for any leniency any more."
