In a chilling case that has shocked the capital, investigations into the brutal murder of businessman Ratan Kumar in South Delhi have uncovered a meticulously planned assassination. Kumar was gunned down by a team of five to six assailants who fired a staggering 69 rounds at him on November 30 in Chattarpur Enclave while he was on his way to his dairy.
International Gangsters and a Web of Revenge
Police probing the case strongly suspect the murder was a contract killing ordered from overseas. According to sources, the hit job was orchestrated by two gangsters based abroad—Himanshu Bhau, based in Portugal, and Neeraj Faridpuria, who is in Canada—at the behest of a rival businessman's family. This killing is believed to be in retaliation for the murder of that businessman, who was allegedly shot dead by Kumar's son, Deepak, seven months ago on May 24.
The Kumar family's fears align with the police theory. Kumar's daughter, Deepika, stated that the latest murder was an act of revenge for the earlier killing. The police investigation has revealed a complex network of shooters. One set was allegedly provided by Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria, while the rest were hitmen associated with UP-based gangster Randeep Bhati.
The Fugitive Hitmen and a Family's Anguish
Law enforcement has identified five of the assailants, all of whom are currently absconding. Lookout circulars have been issued against them. One of the primary shooters has been named as Anuj, alias Fighter. The international links are stark: Neeraj Faridpuria, a native of Haryana who was once part of the notorious Bambiha gang, now works for Himanshu Bhau. Faridpuria, facing over 25 criminal cases, fled to Canada via Dubai in 2019.
Amidst this, the Kumar family is living in fear and grief. Deepika revealed that her brother, Deepak, had gone astray, prompting the family to sever all ties with him in an attempt to shield themselves from the escalating rivalry. "My father took this step to protect the family from the ongoing rivalry," she said. Ratan Kumar had even taken the formal step of publishing a public notice in newspapers through his lawyer, disowning Deepak and barring him from inheriting any family properties. The notice explicitly stated that Kumar had no control over his son's actions and would not be responsible for his conduct or debts.
Pleas for Protection and a History of Conflict
Despite this public disassociation, Kumar continued to receive threats, his daughter claimed. "It's been nearly three weeks since he was murdered, but the killers are absconding, and no protection has been given to our family," Deepika lamented. However, a senior police officer countered that the Kumar family had never formally sought any security cover from the police.
The roots of this bloody feud trace back to a fractured friendship. According to the Kumar family, Deepak and the murdered businessman were once friends and partners in property dealings. A falling out two years ago led to Deepak being assaulted. The family alleges that Deepak later killed the businessman in May to settle the score. Following that murder and Deepak's subsequent arrest, a fearful Ratan Kumar filed a police complaint against 13 individuals, expressing fear for his life and holding them responsible if any harm came to him. He reiterated in that complaint that he had cut all ties with his son.
The investigation continues as police hunt for the fugitive shooters and piece together the full international conspiracy behind the execution-style murder that claimed Ratan Kumar's life.
