Dehradun Robbery: Two Unidentified Men Target 75-Year-Old Woman's Home
Police in Dehradun have registered a case against two unidentified men for allegedly robbing a 75-year-old woman. The incident took place in the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday at her residence in the city.
Complaint Filed by Hotelier Son
The case was registered at Rajpur police station by the woman's son, Bhuvan Gandhi. He is a hotelier based in Dehradun. In his complaint, Gandhi stated he was out of station with his son at the time of the robbery.
He received information about the incident at 3 am on Sunday from the housemaid. The housemaid was the only other person present in the house apart from his mother.
Details of the Robbery
Investigation officer Sub-Inspector Vinod Kumar provided details about the crime. He said two men allegedly broke into the house around 12:30 am. They entered the room where the elderly woman was sleeping.
The robbers demanded access to a locker containing valuables. These included jewellery and cash. They ransacked the house for approximately two hours before fleeing with the stolen items.
Family in Shock, Probe Underway
Kumar mentioned the family is currently in a state of shock. They are not in a position to speak about the traumatic incident at this moment.
Police will ascertain the exact value of the stolen items once they record detailed statements from the family. A case has been registered under Section 309(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for robbery. An investigation is now underway to identify and apprehend the suspects.
