Indore: Elderly Couple's Decomposed Bodies Found After 20-30 Days in Lasudia
Decomposed Bodies of Elderly Couple Found in Indore Home

In a tragic and unsettling discovery, the decomposed bodies of an elderly husband and wife were found at their home in Indore's Satellite Junction area on Thursday morning. Police officials estimate that the couple, identified as Kanhaiyalal Paranwal and Smriti Paranwal, had passed away approximately 20 to 30 days before being discovered.

Grim Discovery in Lasudia Residence

The matter came to light when neighbours in the Lasudia locality noticed a persistent foul smell emanating from the first floor of the couple's house. Residents, who had not seen the elderly pair for several weeks, grew concerned. After peering through the balcony, they immediately alerted the police authorities.

Upon entering the sealed house, officers made a heartbreaking find. Kanhaiyalal's body was discovered on the bed, while Smriti was found lying in the bathroom, as confirmed by Lasudia TI Taresh Soni in his statement to the media.

A Life of Seclusion and Health Struggles

Neighbours painted a picture of a deeply reclusive lifestyle led by the couple. Originally hailing from Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, the Paranwals had moved into the house in 2016. Kanhaiyalal, who once worked in Pithampur, had left his job years prior. For the past six months, he was reportedly paralysed, while Smriti was said to be suffering from mental health issues.

The couple, believed to be in their 60s or 70s, kept almost entirely to themselves. Neighbours informed investigators that in all the years they lived there, no relatives were ever seen visiting. Their only interaction with the outside world seemed to be brief trips to buy groceries or vegetables.

This isolation was further highlighted in the days leading up to the discovery. Delivery personnel for milk and newspapers noted that no one was answering the door, a clear deviation from any possible routine.

Police Investigation and Unanswered Questions

The police have cordoned off the house as the investigation continues. Authorities are meticulously recording statements from local residents to piece together the couple's final days and understand the sequence of events.

Both bodies have been sent for a postmortem examination to determine the precise cause and time of death. Given the known health conditions—Kanhaiyalal's paralysis and Smriti's mental state—the police are exploring all possibilities. "It could be a case of suicide, but nothing can be confirmed right now," stated TI Taresh Soni, highlighting the open nature of the probe. Investigators are also looking into whether the deaths resulted from a tragic lack of care or other unforeseen circumstances.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the quiet neighbourhood of Satellite Junction, raising poignant questions about the vulnerability of elderly, isolated individuals living without a visible support network.
