The Cyberabad Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has registered a criminal case against four individuals for allegedly selling assigned land to 80 people, with the land valued at Rs 3.48 crore. The case was filed following a complaint from a coconut seller residing in Allapur, Borabanda.
Complainant's Account
According to the complainant, the accused befriended him and later offered him the opportunity to purchase plots in Patancheru. The complainant stated that Nagesh Goud and Ravi Goud convinced him that they were the landlords, while G Vara Prasad, P Shivaram, and Satyanarayana acted as brokers. They informed the complainant that they were seeking permission for the layout and offered him plots at a reduced price as part of a pre-launch offer.
The complainant told the police that he purchased two plots measuring a total of 254 square yards in 2022 and 2023, paying Rs 10 lakh in total. He also paid an additional Rs 15,000 as a registration fee. However, despite repeated requests, the accused neither executed the sale deed nor handed over possession of the plots.
Modus Operandi
Officials revealed that the accused had similarly defrauded 80 other buyers, collecting Rs 3.48 crore in total. The complainant said, "We later found out that the land shown to us had been earmarked and that the accused had no legal right to sell it. They created a fake layout and collected money."
Legal Action
Police have registered a case under Section 318 (cheating), 316 (criminal breach of trust), and 338 (forgery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Ravi Goud, G Vara Prasad, P Shivaram, and Satyanarayana. Authorities are in the process of summoning the accused for questioning.
The EOW is investigating the matter further to identify any additional victims and recover the defrauded amount.
