Cousin kills painter in Ahmedabad over minor argument

A shocking incident of family violence unfolded in Ahmedabad on Thursday evening, resulting in the death of a young labourer. A 28-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his own cousin following a brief altercation in the Bopal area, police confirmed.

Victim and Accused Identified

The deceased has been identified as Ramu Kushwaha, a native of Morena district in Madhya Pradesh. The man accused of his murder is Vishnu Kushwaha, also hailing from Morena, who is Ramu's maternal cousin. Both men worked as painters and were residing together in Bopal.

How a Minor Argument Turned Deadly

According to police officials, the tragic event was triggered by a seemingly minor argument at their shared residence on Thursday evening. What began as a routine verbal exchange between the two cousins escalated with frightening speed.

In a sudden fit of rage, Vishnu allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and launched a violent attack on Ramu. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds, leading to severe blood loss.

Swift Police Action and Investigation

Alert neighbours contacted the police after discovering Ramu lying injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Bopal police acted promptly, arresting the accused, Vishnu Kushwaha, within hours of the crime. The murder weapon, a sharp-edged household knife, was recovered from the scene.

Authorities have registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder. The accused is in custody and is being questioned to determine the precise sequence of events and the exact motive behind the brutal act.

The victim's body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and will be handed over to his family after the necessary legal formalities are completed.
