Contractor Gunned Down in Broad Daylight in Arwal District
A shocking incident of violence unfolded in Bihar's Arwal district on Monday morning when a 40-year-old man was brutally shot dead by unidentified assailants. The murder occurred near Andhra Chak on the busy Shahar Telpa–Devkund main road, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Victim Identified as Local Businessman
Police have identified the deceased as Sanjay Kumar, a resident of Mahavirganj under the jurisdiction of Shahar Telpa police station. Kumar was known in the area as a successful construction contractor who also operated a poultry farm in the Andhra Chak locality. He had recently completed construction of his new house in the same area, where the tragic incident took place.
Chilling Details of the Attack
According to preliminary investigations, the attack occurred around 10 AM on Monday while Sanjay Kumar was supervising cleaning work at his newly built residence. Witnesses reported that criminals arrived at the scene using two vehicles—an autorickshaw and a motorcycle. The bike-borne assailants specifically called Kumar outside his property before executing the murder at point-blank range.
The attackers fled immediately after the shooting, leaving Kumar dead on the spot. Local residents alerted authorities, prompting a swift response from Shahar Telpa police station personnel who reached the location within minutes.
Police Launch Comprehensive Investigation
Law enforcement officials have launched a thorough investigation into the brazen daylight murder. At the crime scene, investigators recovered two empty cartridges that are being analyzed for forensic evidence. Given the serious nature of the case, a specialized forensic team was summoned to collect scientific evidence that might help identify the perpetrators.
Arwal Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Simi has taken decisive action by forming a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to spearhead the probe. The team is being led by DSP Kriti Kamal and includes technical experts and experienced investigators.
Business or Personal Enmity Suspected
SP Navjot Singh Simi provided crucial insights into the ongoing investigation. "Forensic evidence has been systematically collected from the crime scene," the SP stated. "Our technical experts are currently analyzing the deceased's call detail records to establish potential leads and connections."
The police chief indicated that preliminary evidence suggests the murder may be linked to either personal disputes or business rivalry. "The nature of the attack and the victim's professional background point toward possible enmity related to his contracting business or other personal conflicts," Simi explained.
Family Engaged in Last Rites
In a tragic turn, the victim's family has been unable to file a formal written complaint with police authorities as they are currently engaged in performing Sanjay Kumar's last rites. SP Simi acknowledged this situation, stating, "The family has not submitted a written complaint yet as they are respectfully engaged in the final rituals. Our further investigation will proceed systematically once we receive their formal application."
The police have assured the community that no stone will be left unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The SIT is pursuing multiple investigative angles while forensic analysis continues to provide scientific evidence that could prove crucial in solving this brutal crime.
