Ayodhya Constable and Six Others Face Charges in Elaborate Saudi Job Scam

In a shocking case of employment fraud and police misconduct, a constable currently posted in Ayodhya along with six other individuals have been formally booked for allegedly cheating a youth from Ambedkarnagar of Rs 1.5 lakh. The accused promised the victim employment in Saudi Arabia but instead subjected him to physical harassment and illegal confinement.

Court Intervention Leads to FIR Registration

The case was registered following the direct intervention of a local court, highlighting systemic failures in initial police response. According to the detailed complaint filed by Hamtunnisha of Alahdadpur village in Tanda tehsil of Ambedkarnagar, her son Jafar was approached in 2024 by the accused—identified as Shabbir, Tahir, Manzoor Alam, Hassan, and Ramzan—with an offer for a driver's job in Saudi Arabia.

Deceptive Practices and Illegal Documentation

The accused allegedly collected a total of Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from Jafar's father, Rais, under false pretenses. They then sent the youth abroad without any valid license or legal documentation, leaving him vulnerable and unprotected in a foreign country.

Ordeal of Captivity and Assault in Saudi Arabia

Once in Saudi Arabia, Jafar's situation turned dire. He was allegedly held captive, assaulted, and kept without food and water for five consecutive days. His release was secured only after another Indian national, Rajesh Yadav, intervened and helped pay a security penalty to facilitate his return to India.

Family Faces Further Harassment Upon Return

The victim's family reported that upon Jafar's return home and their subsequent demand for a refund of the cheated amount, they were assaulted by the accused. This escalation of violence compounded their trauma and desperation for justice.

Alleged Police Complicity and Inaction

In September 2025, when the family approached the local police station to lodge a formal complaint, constable Haseeb Siddiqui allegedly abused them verbally and drove them away. Even more disturbingly, the police reportedly filed a challan against victim Jafar instead of taking action against the accused, raising serious questions about procedural integrity.

Judicial Directive Ensures Accountability

The family later approached the court, which directed the police to lodge an FIR against constable Haseeb Siddiqui, Sadre Alam, and the other agents involved. Circle Officer (Tanda) Shubham Kumar confirmed the registration of the case, marking a crucial step toward accountability.

This case underscores the vulnerabilities faced by job seekers and the critical need for vigilant law enforcement to protect citizens from such predatory scams.
