Congress Leader's Son Dies by Suicide in Bathinda, Accuses Real Estate Firm in Video and Note

In a tragic incident that has shocked the Bathinda community, Davinderpal Singh Natt, the 28-year-old son of late Congress functionary Sukhraj Singh Natt, allegedly died by suicide late Sunday night. The young man reportedly shot himself with his licensed weapon at his residence in Bathinda, leaving behind a video clip and a suicide note that have led to a police case.

Allegations Against Real Estate Company Chairman and Sons

In his final communications, Davinderpal Singh Natt specifically accused the chairman of a Mohali-based real estate company, Sushma Buildtech, and his two sons of failing to return a substantial loan amounting to Rs 4 crore. The suicide note and video clip named Binder Pal Mittal, the chairman, along with his sons Bharat Mittal and Prateek Mittal, as responsible parties in the financial dispute that allegedly contributed to his extreme step.

Based on these documents and a formal complaint filed by Davinderpal's grieving mother, the Bathinda police have registered a case under sections 108 (abetment of suicide) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. The case was filed at the Canal Colony police station in Bathinda, as confirmed by Bathinda SP City Narinder Singh in a statement to TOI.

Mounting Financial Pressure Revealed

In the video message left by Davinderpal, he detailed the severe financial strain he was under, which appears to have been a key factor in his decision. He disclosed that he had taken a loan of Rs 80 lakh from a bank and had also borrowed additional funds from several individuals. This mounting debt, combined with the alleged non-repayment of the Rs 4 crore loan by the real estate firm, created an insurmountable financial burden, as per his account.

Background of the Deceased's Family

Davinderpal Singh Natt was the son of Sukhraj Singh Natt, a prominent political figure who passed away in 2020. Sukhraj Singh Natt had a notable career in politics, serving as a former chairman of Weavco and contesting three assembly elections. He ran as a Congress nominee in 2002 and later as an independent candidate from Joga in 2007 and Maur in 2017, showcasing his active involvement in Punjab's political landscape.

The death of Davinderpal has not only brought personal tragedy to the Natt family but has also highlighted issues of financial disputes and mental health pressures in the region. The police investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining the evidence to determine the full circumstances surrounding this case and the allegations made against the accused individuals from Sushma Buildtech.
