A police officer identified the arrested trio as S Edison Chakravarthy, 26, and D Richard Sachin, 26, both natives of Dindigul district, along with P Walter William, 21, a resident of Uppilipalayam in Coimbatore city. According to authorities, Edison and Richard are history-sheeters with multiple pending cases, including a murder charge, highlighting their involvement in criminal activities.

How the Arrest Unfolded

The police spotted the trio traveling on a motorcycle during a routine patrol near Veerakeralam in Vadavalli. Suspecting foul play, officers stopped them for a vehicle check. Upon inspection, they discovered 3.5 kilograms of ganja concealed in a plastic cover. Additionally, the men were found in possession of a weighing machine and knives, indicating their intent to distribute the narcotics.

  3. Section 29 of the NDPS Act, concerning abetment and criminal conspiracy.

Judicial Proceedings and Custody

After their arrest, the accused were produced before a judicial magistrate, who remanded them in judicial custody.
