CISF Constables Injured in Delhi Hit-and-Run

Two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) constables sustained injuries after a speeding car hit their scooter and fled the scene in South Delhi's Hauz Khas area last week. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning while the personnel were on their way to collect arms for official duty.

Details of the Early Morning Accident

The injured CISF personnel have been identified as Satpal, aged 36, and Ravi Bakoliya, aged 35. Both are originally from Rajasthan but are residents of Khanpur in Delhi. The accident took place around 5:30 am on the Munirka-bound corridor above the IIT Flyover.

Constable Bakoliya, who was riding the scooter, was posted at RK Puram and was scheduled for duty at the Parliament starting from 6:30 am on January 2. He was traveling with his colleague Satpal to their unit to collect arms and ammunition for their shift. As they were on the flyover, a black car, allegedly at high speed, rammed into their scooter from behind. The impact caused both men to fall onto the road.

Driver Flees After Glancing Back

In a callous act, the driver of the car stopped momentarily after the collision. According to the statement given by Constable Bakoliya to the police, the driver looked back at the injured men and then drove away from the spot, leaving them in a vulnerable condition on the road.

Fortunately, a colleague of the injured constables arrived at the location soon after. He immediately helped and rushed both men to the AIIMS Trauma Centre for urgent medical attention. Satpal, who was the pillion rider, suffered significant head injuries and was initially unfit to provide a statement to the authorities.

Legal Action and Recovery

The Hauz Khas police station has registered a case in connection with the incident. The driver has been booked under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). An investigation is underway to trace the accused driver and the vehicle involved.

Both CISF constables are currently recovering from their injuries. The incident highlights the dangers of rash driving on Delhi's roads, especially during the early hours when traffic is sparse, often leading drivers to overspeed with a sense of impunity.
