A bomb threat received via email led to the complete evacuation of the Chittorgarh collectorate in Bhilwara on Monday, triggering a massive security response and search operation that lasted for hours.
Threat Email Prompts Immediate Evacuation
The district administration received the threatening communication on the district collector's official NIC email account in the early hours of Monday. The email, sent at 12:45 am, claimed that five explosive devices had been planted within the collectorate premises and would explode during the day. Acting swiftly on this alarming information, the district administration and police authorities ordered the immediate evacuation of all staff from the building to ensure everyone's safety.
Massive Multi-Agency Search Operation
A thorough and extensive search of the entire collectorate complex was launched to locate any suspicious objects. The operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional SP Sarita Singh and involved multiple specialized teams.
The police's District Special Team (DST) and the local Intelligence Bureau unit spearheaded the search. They were joined by an Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) team from Udaipur, a bomb disposal squad, and a dog squad. Every corner and section of the government office was meticulously inspected.
Heavy Security and Investigation Launched
While the search was underway, a heavy police force was deployed around the collectorate to secure the perimeter. Entry to the premises was strictly prohibited until authorities declared the area safe. After the exhaustive search concluded, no suspicious items or bombs were found on the site.
Superintendent of Police Manish Tripathi confirmed that a formal case has been registered against the unknown sender of the threatening email. He stated that the motive and details behind the threat would become clear only after a proper investigation is completed. The probe is now focused on tracing the origin of the email and identifying the individual or group responsible for creating panic and disrupting official work.
