According to Additional Superintendent of Police SR Rajasekhar, the individuals taken into custody have been identified as Lalu Prasad, aged 34, and Janardhan, aged 31. Both are residents of Salem in Tamil Nadu, indicating their involvement in crimes spanning multiple states.
Lalu Prasad is classified as a rowdy sheeter and faces a long list of serious charges. His criminal record includes two murder cases, two attempt-to-murder cases, 11 dacoity cases, and 16 house break-in cases registered at various police stations across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh.
Similarly, Janardhan is described as a seasoned criminal with accusations in seven cases filed at different police stations, underscoring the duo's extensive involvement in illicit activities.

The crime in question occurred on February 5, when the duo forcibly entered a locked house located in Durga Nagar Colony, Chittoor. They made off with valuable items, prompting the house owner, Varadarajulu, to file a formal complaint. In response, the Chittoor II town police registered a case and initiated a thorough investigation.
During the probe, authorities tracked down the suspects and apprehended them near a petrol station on the outskirts of Chittoor town. This swift action prevented further criminal acts and led to the recovery of significant stolen goods.

The police confiscated a substantial haul from the thieves, including:
- Gold ornaments weighing 151 grams
- Silver articles totaling 2.6 kilograms
- Two cars believed to have been used in their criminal operations
