In two separate security-related incidents on Sunday, authorities in Jammu and Kashmir took significant action, recovering a suspicious device and detaining an individual for questioning.
Weapon-Mountable Telescope Found with Child in Sidhra
Officials from the Jammu (Rural) Police disclosed that they seized a "Chinese-made" telescope designed to be mounted on a weapon. The recovery was made from the Sidhra area. According to police, the device was found in the possession of a six-year-old boy in the Asrarabad locality.
The boy's family informed investigators that he had discovered the object in a nearby garbage dump on Sunday morning. Following the discovery, police teams, along with personnel from the Special Operations Group (SOG), launched a detailed investigation into the matter. A police spokesperson assured the public, advising them not to panic as probes continue.
Separate Arrest in Samba District Over Suspicious Contact
In an unrelated case from the same day, police in Samba district took a man into custody for interrogation. The individual was identified as Tanvir Ahmad, a 24-year-old originally hailing from Anantnag in south Kashmir but currently residing in Samba.
Officials stated that Ahmad was arrested from village Diani. The action was reportedly taken after a "Pakistani" phone number was detected on his mobile device. He is being held for questioning as part of the ongoing investigation.
Ongoing Investigations and Public Assurance
Both incidents have prompted heightened investigative activity by security forces in the region. While the recovery of a military-grade accessory from a civilian area, especially involving a child, has raised concerns, authorities are working to trace the origins of the equipment.
Police have emphasized that further investigations are actively underway in both cases to determine the full context and any potential links. The public has been urged to remain calm and cooperative with the authorities.
