Three Separate Road Accidents in Chhattisgarh Leave Three Dead and Multiple Injured
A series of tragic road accidents occurred across Chhattisgarh on Friday, resulting in three fatalities and leaving numerous individuals injured. The incidents, which took place in different districts, have highlighted ongoing concerns about road safety in the region.
Fatal Scooter Collision in Raigarh District Sparks Protests
In a particularly distressing incident within the Bhupdevpur police station limits of Raigarh district, a 33-year-old anganwadi worker named Uma Rathia lost her life instantly. The tragedy unfolded when a speeding trailer allegedly rammed into the scooter on which she was traveling with her husband and child.
Police reports indicate that the trailer struck the scooter from behind, causing Uma to come under the wheels of the heavy vehicle. While she died on the spot, her husband and child were thrown aside and sustained minor injuries. The trailer driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
The victim, a resident of Tundri Rampur village, was en route to her maternal home in Singhanpur when the accident occurred. Her death triggered significant public outrage, with angry villagers blocking the road to demand compensation for the family. This protest action led to substantial traffic disruptions, creating long queues of vehicles on both sides of the roadway.
Law enforcement authorities arrived promptly after receiving information about the incident and attempted to persuade the protesters to clear the blockade. A search operation is currently underway to locate the absconding driver, with further investigation ongoing.
Bus-Truck Collision in Surajpur District Claims Conductor's Life
In a separate incident in Surajpur district, a serious collision between a bus and a parked truck resulted in one fatality and twelve injuries. The accident occurred in the Latori outpost area's Kalyanpur Navapara when the bus, traveling from Bihar to Ambikapur, reportedly struck the stationary truck at high speed.
According to accounts from injured passengers, the crash happened during the early morning hours when most travelers were asleep. The impact was severe enough to toss passengers from their seats, causing significant injuries.
All injured individuals were quickly transported to Ambikapur Medical College Hospital for urgent medical attention. The bus conductor, identified as Kishore, later succumbed to his injuries during treatment at the facility. His family has been notified of his passing.
Medical officials reported that three injured passengers remain hospitalized, including three who required admission to the intensive care unit due to serious conditions. Five other individuals with minor injuries received first aid and were subsequently discharged.
Highway Crash in Kondagaon District Kills Two Laborers
A third accident was reported on National Highway-30 in Kondagaon district, where a collision between a truck and another vehicle resulted in two immediate fatalities and three serious injuries. The deceased were identified as laborers who died on the spot from the impact.
The injured victims were admitted to the community health center in Farasgaon, where medical personnel described their conditions as critical. Police officials noted that several laborers had become trapped inside the vehicle following the collision and required considerable effort to extricate.
Retrieval operations for the bodies of the deceased proved challenging, requiring hours of coordinated effort between local residents and police personnel working together at the accident site.
These three separate incidents on a single day have raised serious questions about road safety measures and enforcement in Chhattisgarh. Authorities continue their investigations into each case while families mourn their losses and injured victims receive necessary medical care.
