Chatra Teenager Missing for Days as Police Launch Intensive Search Operation
Fourteen-year-old Munni Kumari, also known as Ranu Kumari, disappeared under mysterious circumstances from Gangpur village in Chatra district on December 28, 2025. Authorities have not traced her yet. This prolonged absence raises serious concerns among family members and local villagers.
Disappearance During Village Picnic
According to family statements, Munni left home with other neighborhood children to attend a picnic near the village. She never returned home. When evening arrived without her, the family initiated immediate search efforts.
The family submitted a written complaint at Giddhaur police station on December 31. They alleged that police did not take the matter seriously during initial days. This perceived delay hampered effective action.
Police Intensify Search with Modern Technology
After the case gained attention, police significantly intensified their search operation. They considered the region's challenging geography, which includes dense forests and hilly terrain. Local residents made these observations.
Police deployed modern technology to aid their efforts. They used drone cameras and technical surveillance systems. Multiple police teams now engage in continuous search operations across difficult areas.
Joint Operation with Forest Department
On Saturday, police and forest department teams conducted a joint search operation. They covered areas from Pathalgadda in Giddhaur to dense forest stretches of Katkamsandi in neighboring Hazaribag district.
Teams combed through forested zones, difficult hilly areas, and isolated locations thoroughly. Despite extensive efforts, they achieved no breakthrough by the time of reporting.
The operation received leadership from block development officer Rahul Dev, Inspector Avdhesh Kumar Singh, and Giddhaur police station in-charge Shiva Yadav. Forest department personnel participated actively in the search.
Family's Desperate Search and Concerns
Munni's family members conducted their own searches in nearby villages. They contacted relatives extensively but found no success. The parents remain inconsolable, with her father Nirmal Rana and mother breaking down repeatedly.
The family expressed specific apprehension about the disappearance. They suspect possible involvement of an organized gang, citing a recent similar case reported from Ranchi.
Police Commitment to Continue Search
Giddhaur police station officer-in-charge Shiva Yadav provided an official statement. He confirmed the search operation would continue without interruption. Police are exploring all possible angles to trace the missing girl.
Despite sustained efforts from both authorities and family, Munni Kumari's whereabouts remain completely unknown. The search continues across challenging terrain with technological assistance.
