Chandigarh: In a decisive move against corruption, the Chandigarh Police have dismissed Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Hitesh Kumar from service following his arrest in a ₹40,000 graft case. The action was taken after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught Kumar red-handed while accepting a bribe to release a seized vehicle last Saturday.
Transfer Orders and New Appointments
In a related development, the police department has also effected a transfer of key personnel. On Tuesday, SHO Rajiv Kumar of Sector-39 police station was transferred to police lines in Sector-26. Taking his place, Jai Parkash, who served as SHO of Sector-36, has been appointed as the new Station House Officer (SHO) of Sector-39. Meanwhile, Inspector Chiranji Lal of the District Crime Cell will hold the additional charge of Sector-36 until further orders.
Zero Tolerance Policy Reiterated
Director General of Police (DGP) Dr. Sagar Preet Hooda has reiterated that corruption will not be tolerated within the force. He emphasized that any officer found indulging in corrupt practices will face strict disciplinary action, including dismissal from service. The DGP’s statement underscores the department’s commitment to maintaining integrity and public trust.
