The operation cell of Chandigarh Police has successfully dismantled a significant illegal weapons supply chain, arresting three individuals allegedly involved in providing firearms to associates of notorious gangster Lucky Patial from the Bambiha gang. According to police statements, Monu had initially been sourcing weapons from Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, distributing them across the Tricity area of Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula.
Investigators revealed that when Monu later shifted his focus to drug trafficking activities, he introduced Rahul to weapon smugglers operating in UP and MP. Following this connection, Rahul began procuring and distributing arms independently, expanding the network's reach.
Criminal Backgrounds of the Accused
Police records indicate that Rahul faces four cases of assault and violations under the Arms Act at the Manimajra and IT Park police stations. Additionally, an Arms Act case was registered against him in Madhya Pradesh, where five pistols were recovered during previous investigations.
Similarly, Monu is confronting four cases of assault and Arms Act violations at Manimajra and IT Park police stations. He also has an Arms Act case at the Sector 20 police station in Panchkula, where authorities seized four pistols and four bullets from him.
Links to Gangster Lucky Patial
During intensive interrogation, both Rahul and Monu admitted to maintaining contact with gangster Lucky Patial and supplying weapons to his close associates. This confession highlights the dangerous nexus between arms suppliers and organized crime syndicates operating in the region.
Third Arrest Based on Disclosures
Based on information provided by Rahul and Monu, the police extended their operation and arrested a third individual identified as Govind. From Govind, officers recovered a country-made pistol, further expanding the scope of the investigation.
