Details of the Tragic Incident on Independence Day 2019
According to the detailed case records, the tragic events unfolded in the early hours of August 15, 2019. Kuldeep entered the top floor of the paying guest accommodation around 5:10 AM. An argument subsequently erupted between him and the two sisters, identified as Rajwant Kaur and Manpreet Kaur from Fazilka. Following the altercation, Kuldeep launched a violent attack on both women using a knife, resulting in their immediate deaths at the scene. He fled the premises immediately after committing the crime.
Victims' Background and Discovery of the Crime
The victims, Rajwant Kaur and Manpreet Kaur, had been residing in the Sector 22 house for nearly a year prior to the incident. They were both employed with a private company based in Zirakpur. Police investigations revealed that Kuldeep was known to the sisters and had visited them on previous occasions.
The crime came to light on Raksha Bandhan when the sisters failed to respond to repeated phone calls from their brother. Concerned family members alerted relatives living in Chandigarh, who proceeded to the paying guest accommodation around 2 PM. Upon arrival, they made the horrifying discovery of both sisters murdered.
Police Investigation and Arrest
During the subsequent investigation, Chandigarh police recovered crucial CCTV footage that captured Kuldeep entering the building on the morning of the murders. A Nepali youth residing in the same property positively identified Kuldeep as a frequent visitor to the premises. Based on this evidence, Sector-17 police registered a formal case and successfully arrested Kuldeep just a few days after the crime.
Kuldeep has remained in judicial custody for nearly seven years since his arrest, awaiting trial and now conviction for this heinous crime.
