In a significant victory for law enforcement, the Buxar police have successfully apprehended one of the district's most notorious fugitives. Vijay Pandey, who carried a reward of Rs 25,000 on his head and was featured among the top-10 most wanted criminals in Buxar, is now in custody after a prolonged manhunt.
The Arrest and Police Confirmation
The breakthrough was officially confirmed by Dumraon sub-divisional police officer (DSP) Polast Kumar on Sunday. The arrest itself was executed the previous day, Saturday, marking the culmination of an intensive search operation. DSP Kumar provided crucial details about the arrested individual, identifying him as Vijay Pandey, son of the late Shiv Prasad Pandey, and a resident of Pokharha village under the Bagen Gola police station in Buxar district.
A Long List of Serious Charges
Vijay Pandey was not wanted for minor offences. The police confirmed he was implicated in a series of grave criminal cases registered across various police stations in the district. His alleged crimes include:
- Murder
- Attempt to murder
- Multiple violations under the Arms Act
Having been absconding for a considerable period, the court had issued multiple arrest warrants against him in connection with these ongoing cases. His evasion of the law had made him a high-priority target for the district police.
The Coordinated Police Operation
The successful capture was the result of a meticulously planned operation. Acting on the directives of the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Buxar, a special police team was formed with the sole objective of tracking down and arresting Pandey.
This dedicated team left no stone unturned. They conducted continuous raids at his suspected hideouts, leveraging a combination of technical surveillance and actionable human intelligence. In a bid to escape the police net, Pandey had adopted the tactic of frequently changing his locations.
However, the police's sustained monitoring and coordinated efforts eventually paid off. Based on specific and reliable inputs, the special team finally closed in on him. Vijay Pandey was arrested from the Brahmapur police station area, bringing his run from the law to a decisive end.
This arrest is seen as a major achievement for the Buxar police, demonstrating their commitment to tackling serious crime and apprehending high-profile offenders who threaten public safety in the district.
