To ensure the prompt disposal of cases, nine dedicated benches were constituted for the Lok Adalat. DLSA Secretary Neha Dayal explained that the National Lok Adalat is organized as a public campaign under the directives of the National Legal Services Authority in New Delhi. The primary aim is to reduce the burden of pending cases in courts and ensure affordable and timely justice for all. Dayal pointed out that litigants often endure lengthy processes, moving from lower courts to the High Court and even the Supreme Court, whereas disputes can be efficiently resolved through conciliation in just one day via Lok Adalat.

Breakdown of Case Settlements Across Categories

The Lok Adalat achieved settlements across a diverse range of case types, demonstrating its broad applicability. Key outcomes include:

  • Bank-Related Cases: 544 cases were settled with an agreed amount of Rs 13,11,60,794.
  • Traffic Challan Cases: 618 cases were disposed of, addressing common legal issues efficiently.
  • Criminal Cases: 165 cases were resolved through compromise, contributing to reduced court backlogs.
  • Electricity-Related Cases: 265 cases saw amicable settlements, benefiting both consumers and providers.
  • Matrimonial Disputes: 13 cases were resolved, offering timely relief in sensitive family matters.
  • Negotiable Instruments Act Cases: 4 cases were settled, ensuring legal compliance in financial disputes.

Additionally, 98 recovery cases involving various banks were settled, with parties agreeing on a total of Rs 1,12,81,051. Cases related to the District Transport Officer were also successfully disposed of during the proceedings, further showcasing the comprehensive nature of the Lok Adalat.
