Tragic Bus Crash on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Claims Three Lives in Alwar
A devastating accident on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Alwar district has resulted in the deaths of a couple and their young daughter, with 30 passengers sustaining injuries. The collision occurred early Tuesday morning when a bus rammed into a stationary chemical tanker truck.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The tragic incident took place around 6 am near Pinan, close to the Channel No 100 interchange bridge within the jurisdiction of the Rajgarh police station. According to police reports, the bus driver, identified as 33-year-old Monu Yadav from Firozabad in Uttar Pradesh, allegedly dozed off while driving at high speed. This caused the bus to collide with the parked tanker, which was carrying hazardous chemicals.
Monu Yadav was traveling with his family, who were seated in the driver's cabin. He was accompanied by his 32-year-old wife, Reena Yadav, and their two daughters: eight-year-old Doli Yadav and two-year-old Riddhi Yadav. Tragically, Monu, Reena, and Doli lost their lives in the crash. Their youngest daughter, Riddhi, miraculously survived without any physical injuries.
Heartbreaking Aftermath and Rescue Efforts
The scene was one of profound sorrow as the toddler Riddhi was found crying inconsolably for her mother amidst the wreckage. Rajgarh Station House Officer (SHO) Rajesh Meena took immediate custody of the child, providing care and comfort until her relatives could arrive. She was later taken to Agra by her maternal uncle.
Family members revealed that Monu Yadav had recently taken his family on a vacation to Mahakal in Ujjain, with photos from the trip shared on social media just the day before the accident. The bus had departed from Ujjain at 9 pm on Monday, en route to Delhi, when the tragedy struck in the early hours.
Injuries and Police Investigation
Of the 30 passengers injured in the collision, medical officials reported varying degrees of trauma. Twelve individuals were referred to hospitals in Alwar for advanced treatment, while two were transferred to medical facilities in Jaipur. The remaining injured were admitted to local hospitals in Rajgarh and Raini for care.
Police have confirmed that post-mortem examinations were conducted on the deceased, and their bodies have been handed over to the grieving family. Authorities are actively investigating the incident, with a focus on locating the truck driver, who fled the scene immediately after the collision. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend him for further questioning.
Passenger Allegations and Safety Concerns
Several passengers on the bus have alleged that the crash resulted from driver negligence, citing the vehicle's impact with the truck parked on the highway. This tragic event has raised serious questions about road safety protocols on one of India's busiest expressways, particularly regarding the parking of heavy vehicles and driver fatigue management.
The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, a critical transportation artery, has witnessed multiple accidents in recent years, highlighting the need for enhanced safety measures and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such heartbreaking incidents in the future.
