In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, residents of Ludhiana discovered dogs feeding on a severely burnt human body in a vacant plot. The police were immediately alerted, launching a probe that strongly points towards murder.
Grisly Discovery in Khwajke Village
The gruesome scene unfolded in a deserted area of Khwajke village in Meharban. Local residents were the first to witness the disturbing sight of stray dogs scavenging on the remains and promptly informed the authorities. Police received the alert around 8 pm on Monday.
Upon reaching the location, officers from the Meharban police station found an unidentified body in a completely charred state. The burning was so extreme that it rendered the victim unidentifiable. "The body was burnt to such an extent that it was impossible to determine whether it was that of a man or woman, much less ascertain the identity," stated the police. Investigators noted that parts of the body had been scattered around the site, likely due to the animals.
Police Investigation Points to Foul Play
Inspector Kulbir Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Meharban police station, provided details of the ongoing investigation. "No piece of cloth or any other evidence was found near the site," he revealed, indicating a possible attempt to destroy all clues. The primary suspicion is that the person was murdered at another location and the body was later brought to the vacant plot to be burnt, aiming to conceal the victim's identity and evidence.
The remains have been sent to the mortuary of Ludhiana civil hospital for 72 hours as the search for clues continues. Police are scanning CCTV footage from the broader area, though no cameras are installed directly at the isolated spot. Simultaneously, teams are cross-checking reports of missing persons from Ludhiana and surrounding regions to establish the deceased's identity. No formal case has been registered yet, but officials have not ruled out murder.
