Major Arms Cache Seized in Bikaner After Drone Drop from Pakistan

In a significant joint operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) and Rajasthan Police on Thursday seized a large arms cache allegedly dropped by a drone from Pakistan in the Khajuwala area of Bikaner district. The recovery included five China-made pistols, 325 cartridges, and a drone weighing approximately 70 kg, highlighting ongoing security threats along the border.

Details of the Joint Operation

The operation took place at Chak 24 KND in Gram Panchayat 14 BD under the Khajuwala police station. During a search in a farmer's field, BSF personnel discovered the consignment packed in eight packets. BSF spokesperson Deputy Commandant Mahesh Chaudhary stated, "Large quantities of weapons and cartridges were sent into Indian territory via drone from Pakistan." He confirmed the seizure of 5 Made-in-China pistols and around 325 cartridges from the spot, along with the recovery of the drone itself.

First Major Recovery in Khajuwala Sector

Officials noted that this marks the first time such a large drone-dropped weapons consignment from Pakistan has been recovered in the Khajuwala sector. Following the discovery, police and BSF launched extensive search operations and blockades across the area to prevent any further illicit activities. A joint team, including Khajuwala CO Amarjeet Chawla, station in-charge (trainee) RPS Rohit Chaudhary, and BSF G Branch officers, promptly reached the scene to oversee the investigation.

Investigation and Security Concerns

Newly posted Inspector General of Bikaner Police Range Om Prakash confirmed that weapons and cartridges dropped by drone from across the border were found, leading to the registration of a case with an ongoing investigation. Security agencies are actively probing the intended recipients of the consignment and the potential networks behind it. This incident follows warnings from Rajasthan agencies about the risk of drone-based weapons delivery, issued after a drone-linked drug smuggling case on the Pakistan border five months ago, underscoring the evolving challenges in border security.
