Bomb Threat Email Targets Kanpur Collectorate

A serious security scare unfolded in Kanpur on Wednesday morning after the District Magistrate received a direct email threat to blow up the Collectorate premises. The incident triggered a swift and extensive response from multiple police and security units, though no explosive device was ultimately discovered.

Swift Police Action After Threatening Email

District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh was the recipient of the alarming email, which arrived on Wednesday morning. The message explicitly warned of a bomb planted within the Collectorate building, threatening to destroy the entire complex. Upon receiving the threat, the administration did not delay in alerting the police authorities.

The information was promptly relayed to DCP Headquarters SM Qasim Abidi. Following the alert, a multi-agency security operation was immediately launched. ADM City Rajesh Kumar played a key role in coordinating the initial response and informing the concerned officials.

Extensive Search Operation Conducted

Authorities deployed several teams to the site to ensure public safety and government security. The bomb disposal squad was rushed to the Collectorate alongside police teams from the Local Intelligence Unit (LIU) and Sadar Kotwali.

These teams conducted a thorough and meticulous search of the entire Collectorate premises, including all offices and surrounding areas. Despite the detailed search operation, the teams did not find any suspicious objects or explosive materials. The immediate physical threat was thus neutralized, allowing normal functions to resume.

Cyber Investigation to Trace Source

With the immediate physical threat addressed, the focus has now shifted to the digital realm. ADCP LIU, Kotwali police, and the cyber crime team have initiated a detailed investigation to trace the origin of the threatening email.

Their primary objectives are to identify the sender and understand the motives behind the hoax threat. Such incidents are treated with utmost seriousness as they aim to create panic and disrupt public order. Intelligence agencies have also been kept in the loop regarding the development.

The authorities have not yet disclosed any leads regarding a potential suspect but are analyzing digital footprints. This incident highlights the evolving nature of threats where digital communication is used to instigate fear and challenge law and order machinery.
