A bomb-like object equipped with a timer and a circuit was discovered on Wednesday evening outside the entrance of a reputable hospital located on the first floor of Kamdhenu Estate in Hadapsar, Pune. The incident sparked panic among local residents and hospital visitors.
Discovery and Initial Response
The suspicious white object, which was placed inside a cardboard box, was noticed by a passerby at approximately 8:15 PM. The individual promptly alerted the police control room, leading to a swift response from law enforcement. Several police personnel were deployed to the scene, and the area was cordoned off to ensure public safety. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was summoned to handle the situation.
BDDS Intervention
A team from the BDDS arrived at the location and first secured the object at the spot. After taking necessary precautions, the team safely transported the device to the open ground of the Hadapsar Gliding Center for defusing. As of the time of reporting, the BDDS team was actively working to defuse the object and neutralize any potential threat.
Senior Officials at the Scene
Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Vivek Masal visited the location to monitor the unfolding situation. Speaking to the media, DCP Masal stated, 'The BDDS team will study the object and its contents thoroughly to determine its nature and origin.' The authorities have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading rumors.
The discovery of the device has raised concerns about security in the area, and investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for placing the object. Further updates are expected once the BDDS completes its analysis.
