A shocking incident unfolded in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday when a crude bomb explosion on the terrace of a residential building in the Airfield area left four individuals grievously injured, including a known history-sheeter. The blast triggered widespread panic among residents and prompted an immediate response from multiple emergency and investigative agencies.
Suspect Identified as Sehnawaz Malik with Extensive Criminal Record
Police have identified the primary suspect as Sehnawaz Malik, aged 26, who sustained severe injuries in the explosion. Deputy Commissioner of Police Jagmohan Meena revealed that Malik has a troubling criminal history, having been previously booked for seven serious offences. These include charges of attempted murder and violations under the Arms Act at both Nayapalli and Maitri Vihar police stations.
"We strongly suspect that Sehnawaz was actively engaged in manufacturing bombs with clear criminal intentions," stated DCP Meena. The injured also include Malik's mother and two other individuals, all of whom were present on the terrace at the time of the blast. Investigators, relying on circumstantial evidence, believe the explosion occurred while the bombs were being assembled.

"We were living in the dark about what was happening right above us. These criminals have put everyone's life at risk by manufacturing explosives in a densely populated residential area," voiced one distressed tenant, highlighting the grave safety implications.
