Bokaro Burglary: Thieves Target Three Houses in Kargali Bazaar While Owners Away
In a brazen late-night incident, thieves struck three houses in the Kargali Bazaar locality under the Bermo police station limits in Bokaro on Tuesday night. The burglars made off with valuables while all three homeowners were away from their residences, highlighting a concerning pattern of opportunistic crime in the area.
Details of the Targeted Houses
The affected properties belong to Channu Lahre, Raju Sahni, and Santosh Kumar. According to local sources who informed the police, Lahre—a priest by profession—was currently in Chhattisgarh at the time of the incident. Raju Sahni, an employee of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), was away in Gorakhpur. Santosh Kumar, another CCL staff member, had also left for Chhattisgarh, leaving the houses vulnerable to the thieves' activities.
Discovery and Police Response
The burglary came to light on Wednesday morning when neighbours noticed the broken doors of the houses and promptly alerted others in the community. Bokaro Harvinder Singh confirmed that the police have initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. However, a significant hurdle has emerged in the legal process: FIRs have not been registered yet because the owners of the houses had not returned by late Wednesday evening. This delay underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement when victims are absent during such incidents.
Community Concerns and Safety Implications
This incident has raised alarms among residents about home security, especially when occupants are traveling. The thieves' ability to target multiple houses in a single night suggests a coordinated effort, and locals are urging for enhanced police patrols in the Kargali Bazaar area. Authorities are examining surveillance footage and gathering witness statements to piece together the events of that night.
As the investigation continues, the Bokaro police are advising homeowners to take precautionary measures, such as informing neighbours when away and installing security systems. The community awaits the return of the affected owners to formally lodge complaints and hopefully recover the stolen items.
