Bokaro Police Dismantle Extortion Racket, Arrest Seven Suspects in Coordinated Operation

In a significant crackdown on organized crime, Bokaro police have successfully busted a sophisticated extortion racket operating in the Balidih area, leading to the arrest of seven individuals. The operation, conducted on Thursday, targeted a gang that was systematically threatening local traders by invoking the names of notorious criminals to instill fear and extort money.

Gang Targeted Local Businesses with Threats and Intimidation

According to police officials, the gang members were actively targeting local businessmen through a campaign of intimidation. They made threatening phone calls and sent menacing messages from multiple mobile numbers, demanding extortion payments. The gang exploited the reputations of deceased gangster Aman Sahu and other notorious figures like Rahul Dubey and Mayank Singh to coerce victims into compliance.

Bokaro Superintendent of Police Harvinder Singh provided detailed insights into the gang's modus operandi. "The accused were using fear tactics by associating their demands with known criminal entities," Singh stated. "This strategy was designed to paralyze local traders with terror, forcing them to pay up without resistance."

Coordinated Police Raid Leads to Arrests and Seizures

A special investigation team, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (City) Alok Ranjan, launched a meticulously planned operation based on actionable intelligence reports and technical surveillance. The raid culminated in a dramatic confrontation when the gang's alleged kingpin, Prince Kumar Gupta, opened fire on the police team in a desperate attempt to escape.

In the ensuing retaliatory action, Gupta sustained injuries and was promptly taken into custody. The police seized a cache of weapons, mobile phones, and SIM cards during the encounter, which are now being analyzed for further evidence. Gupta's criminal history is extensive, with approximately 10 cases registered against him across various police stations in Bokaro district.

Detailed Investigation Uncovers Gang's Network and Methods

Investigations have revealed a well-organized network behind the extortion racket. Gupta and his associates were responsible for collecting contact details of local traders, which they then passed on to accomplices such as Prakash Shukla and Prince Khan. These individuals would subsequently make the extortion calls, posing as members of feared criminal gangs to amplify the threats.

The other arrested accused have been identified as Shyam Kumar Singh, Ajay Singh, Om Prakash Pal, Jaynendra Shukla, Golu Kumar, and Bhupendra Singh. Police are continuing their probe to determine the full extent of the gang's activities and identify any additional collaborators.

This operation marks a crucial victory for law enforcement in Bokaro, highlighting their commitment to protecting local businesses from organized crime. The arrests are expected to disrupt the extortion network significantly and restore a sense of security among the trading community.
