The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has demanded immediate action against alleged illegal activities near the Prime Minister Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing complex located adjacent to Symbiosis University in Wathoda, Nagpur. A delegation led by BJYM Nagpur president Sachin Karare submitted a memorandum to the Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) commissioner, highlighting concerns of local residents.
Illegal Businesses and Liquor Outlet
According to the BJYM, several illegal businesses are operating in and around the PMAY housing complex. The delegation specifically raised objections over the functioning of a liquor outlet in one of the commercial units within the housing scheme. BJYM members questioned how permission was granted for liquor sales in close proximity to a residential settlement and a prominent educational institution like Symbiosis University.
Impact on Youth and Students
The organization expressed apprehension that the presence of such establishments could negatively impact students and encourage substance abuse among youth. They emphasized the need to protect the welfare of young residents and students in the area.
Demand for Action
The BJYM further demanded immediate removal of encroachments and strict action against erring officials. As per the organization, the NMRDA commissioner assured that necessary action would be initiated, and officials were instructed to look into the complaints.
Warning of Agitation
BJYM warned that if concrete action is not taken within six days, the organization would launch a major agitation to press for their demands.
