Bihar STF Nabs Two in Karnataka Gold Robbery

The Bank and Jewellery Cell of the Bihar Special Task Force has made a significant breakthrough in a high-profile interstate robbery case. Officers arrested two key members of a criminal gang operating from Darbhanga. These individuals stand accused of orchestrating a major gold heist in Karnataka's Mysore district.

Details of the Arrest and Recovery

Acting on directives from senior officials, a specialized team led by DSP Anand Kumar swung into action. The team focused on solving the case through coordinated efforts across state lines. Their investigation led them to the two suspects.

The arrested men have been identified as Rishikesh Singh, who also goes by the aliases Patthal Singh and Chhotu Singh. He is a resident of Darbhanga. The second accused is Pankaj Kumar, also known as Satuaa, from Bhagalpur district.

During the arrest operation, authorities seized several important items from the accused. These included a two-wheeler, one lakh rupees in cash, a stolen gold chain, a gold ring, and a jewellery storage box. The recovery provides tangible evidence linking the men to the crime.

The Mysore Gold Robbery

The case originates from a brazen theft that occurred on December 28th. Unidentified criminals targeted a jewellery shop in the Hunsur town area of Mysore district, Karnataka. They made off with a staggering 8.32 kilograms of gold jewellery.

Following the robbery, local police in Hunsur town registered a formal case. The charges were filed under specific sections of the law, namely Sections 310(2) and 351(2) of the BNS, along with the 3/25 Arms Act. This set the legal process in motion.

Interrogation Reveals Wider Criminal Network

Questioning of the arrested suspects yielded crucial information about their gang's activities. The accused confessed that their group had conducted detailed reconnaissance in several major cities before the Mysore heist. These cities included Jaipur in Rajasthan and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Investigators learned that Pankaj Kumar was specifically provided with assistance to carry out the criminal act. Furthermore, it was revealed that both arrested individuals have a history of criminal involvement. Several cases are already registered against them in various districts across Bihar, Rajasthan, and Jharkhand.

The Bihar STF has completed its initial role in the investigation. The case file and the accused are now being handed over for further legal proceedings. The Mysore police will take the lead in pursuing the next steps of the judicial process.
