Palanpur: In a significant operation, the Banaskantha police seized charas worth Rs 34.5 lakh, along with a country-made pistol and 16 live cartridges, from a man from Bihar who was traveling by bus to Patan. The arrest was made during intensified checking due to the local body elections.

Bus Intercepted at Amirgadh Check Post

On Friday, police stopped a private bus at the Amirgadh check post. During the search, they allegedly found 13.78 kilograms of charas, a country-made pistol, and 16 live cartridges in the bag of a passenger identified as Mukesh Prakash Tarun Prakash.

Details of the Operation

Banaskantha Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prashant Sumbe stated, "Mukesh was traveling from Jaipur. The pistol and cartridges were to be delivered to one Mohammed Khalid Yunus in Patan. He has also been detained." Sumbe further added that Mukesh's accomplice, identified as Vicky Kumar, managed to flee when the police were checking the passengers' belongings.

The police have registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway to trace the network involved in the supply of drugs and illegal weapons.
