Acting on a specific tip-off, a police patrolling team swiftly moved to the location. Upon arrival, they found a group of men gathered unlawfully. The police team immediately intervened and took four individuals into custody.

The accused were identified as Niranjan Nayak alias Kalia (38), Gagan Nayak alias Kapunu (32), Somanath Singh alias Somu (25), and Pratyush Patsahani alias Rocky (26).

Details of the Disruptive Act

According to the commissionerate police, the accused men engaged in highly intimidating behavior. Their celebration involved cutting a birthday cake with a sword, an act that frightened local residents. They reportedly hurled abuses, created a significant ruckus, and recorded their entire stunt with the intention of uploading the video to social media platforms.

"Such acts not only disturb public peace but also embolden criminal tendencies. We will take strict action against those trying to terrorise the community," stated a senior police officer. The police successfully seized the sword used in the incident.

Criminal History and Legal Action

A preliminary investigation revealed that one of the accused, Niranjan Nayak, is a habitual offender. He already has three previous cases registered against him at the Laxmisagar police station.

All four accused were booked under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act. They were produced before a local court on Saturday. Police officials confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to determine if more people were involved in planning or executing the disruptive event.

The incident has drawn criticism from local residents who value peace and safety. "Such stunts create unnecessary fear in the neighbourhood. Authorities must keep a strict vigil," said Ramesh Jena, a local shopkeeper, echoing the sentiment of the community. The police action has been viewed as a necessary step to curb such public displays of intimidation and violence.
