Bhopal Man Arrested for Heinous Crimes Against Teenager

In a shocking case from Maihar district, police investigations have revealed that a 25-year-old man not only blackmailed a teenager using obscene videos and gangraped her but also forced her to bring jewellery from home and procured loans by mortgaging that gold. The main accused, identified as Shivay alias Shivcharan Raghuvanshi, 25, a resident of Mauganj, was produced in court by Amarpatan police on Tuesday evening and remanded to judicial custody.

Details of the Crime and Investigation

Officials said the case has widened, with three associates who are still on the run. According to the complaint, the accused trapped the victim through social media, made some obscene videos, then three of them also blackmailed and raped her. Later, the accused forced her to bring jewellery from home, which he mortgaged with two different gold loan finance institutions and secured Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1.22 lakh loans against that gold.

Amarpatan police station incharge, Vijay Singh Paraste, told TOI: "Main accused has been arrested, three more are on the run. They have been booked for abduction, rape, gangrape, extortion and also relevant sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act."

How the Accused Lured the Victim

Police revealed that the accused lured the Class 12 student into a trap by first contacting her mother through social media and gradually gaining her trust. He later allegedly called the girl on the pretext of meeting, gave her a spiked drink and took her to his hotel in Rewa, where he filmed objectionable videos and used them to blackmail her.

Investigators said the victim was threatened with the videos being made public unless she paid money. Under pressure, the girl allegedly stole jewellery from her home and handed it over to the accused. Police further revealed that the accused later repeated the act with the help of his associates, again recording videos and seizing her phone to prevent her from reaching out.

The case highlights serious concerns about online safety and exploitation of minors through social media platforms. Authorities continue to search for the three remaining suspects involved in this disturbing crime.
