A tragic hit-and-run incident in Bhopal claimed the life of a 66-year-old factory owner on Wednesday afternoon. The victim, Amrinder Singh, succumbed to severe head injuries after an unidentified motorcyclist rammed into his scooter and fled the scene.
Details of the Piplani Road Accident
The accident occurred around 2 pm on Wednesday on JK Road in the Piplani area. According to the Piplani police, Amrinder Singh was returning to his home in Durgesh Vihar Colony for lunch on his scooter. As he was crossing the road, a speeding biker coming from the Minal Residency side hit his vehicle from the side.
The impact was severe and caused Singh to fall onto the road. The biker did not stop and immediately fled the spot, leaving the elderly man critically injured. A key detail noted by police was that Amrinder Singh was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, which led to the catastrophic head trauma.
Rush to Hospital and Death
Bystanders rushed the severely injured man to a private hospital. However, doctors there declared him dead during the examination. Holding onto hope, his family then took him to AIIMS Bhopal, hoping for a different outcome.
Unfortunately, doctors at AIIMS also confirmed the grim reality. Amrinder Singh had succumbed to serious head injuries sustained in the crash. The family's desperate attempt to save him proved futile.
Police Investigation Underway
The Piplani police have registered a case and launched an investigation to apprehend the absconding biker. A primary line of inquiry is the analysis of CCTV footage from cameras in the area around JK Road to identify the vehicle and the accused.
Amrinder Singh was a respected businessman who, along with his family, ran a factory in the Govindpura Industrial Area. His sudden death has sent shockwaves through his community. The police have stated that further investigations are ongoing.
This incident has once again highlighted critical issues of road safety, speeding, and the importance of wearing helmets for two-wheeler riders in the city.
