Bhilwara Labourer's Mysterious Death in Maharashtra Ignites Village Protests and Demands for Justice
The tragic and suspicious death of a labourer from Asind in Bhilwara district, who passed away under unclear circumstances in Maharashtra, has triggered significant unrest and demonstrations in his home village of Barana ki Jhopadiyan. Family members and community leaders are alleging murder and are pressing the Rajasthan government for substantial compensation and swift legal action against those responsible.
Police Response and Zero FIR Registration
In response to the incident, Asind police took prompt action by registering a zero FIR on February 3, based on a detailed report filed by the labourer's wife. Asind Deputy Superintendent of Police Omprakash confirmed that the FIR was electronically transmitted to Maharashtra Police for a thorough investigation into the matter, ensuring cross-state coordination in the case.
Community Protests and Government Assurances
On Saturday, tensions escalated as members of the labourer's community assembled outside the Asind police station. They voiced strong demands, including financial compensation, a government job for the deceased's family, and the immediate arrest of the accused individuals. Asind Sub-Divisional Officer Paramjit Singh intervened, engaging with the protestors and providing assurances of support through various government schemes.
He committed to facilitating benefits under the Chief Minister Ayushman Yojana for healthcare, the widow pension scheme, the Palanhar scheme for child welfare, and the PM housing scheme. Following these assurances, the protest was peacefully concluded, and family members proceeded to perform the last rites for the deceased.
Details of the Incident and Family Allegations
The deceased, identified as Ramesh Chand Bhil, had traveled to Maharashtra approximately a month prior to work as a labourer in the Manwad tehsil area of Nashik district. His wife, Kaisi Devi, reported that she was unable to contact her husband for seven consecutive days before receiving news of his death. She detailed a suspicious sequence of events leading up to the tragedy.
Kaisi Devi alleged that on February 2 at 11 AM, an individual named Sanjay Singh contacted Ramesh's brother via phone, requesting Ramesh's Aadhaar card on WhatsApp for verification purposes. Merely 15 minutes after the Aadhaar card was sent, Sanjay Singh called back to inform the family that Ramesh had died. This abrupt communication has raised serious questions and fueled suspicions of foul play.
Family members promptly traveled to Maharashtra to retrieve the body and bring it back to Asind. Upon their return, Kaisi Devi filed an official police report, explicitly accusing Sanjay Singh of murdering her husband. The case continues to unfold as authorities in both Rajasthan and Maharashtra work to uncover the truth behind this distressing incident.
