Bengaluru Teen Girl Disguised as Boy in Bold Theft Attempt
Police in Bengaluru have detained a 16-year-old girl who disguised herself as a boy to commit thefts. She was caught along with a minor boy and a female relative. The trio faces charges for breaking into a locked house and stealing gold, silver, and cash.
Investigation Reveals Deceptive Disguise
During the investigation, the minor girl confessed to police. She said she deliberately dressed like a boy to misguide authorities. This clever tactic initially fooled officers who thought she was male.
The minor girl has been handed over to the state women's home. The boy was sent to a juvenile home. The woman involved is now in judicial custody at Bengaluru central prison.
Complaint Leads to Quick Police Action
An autorickshaw driver named Sangamesh from Agrahara in Sampigehalli filed a complaint on January 13. He reported that miscreants had broken into his house. They stole 30 grams of gold, 60 grams of silver, and Rs 15,000 in cash.
The Sampigehalli police team sprang into action. They collected CCTV footage from the area. The footage showed a woman riding with two boys. These individuals were later seen entering Sangamesh's house.
Police tracked the suspects to their residence on Tannery Road. Upon questioning, the accused confessed to the crime. They returned a portion of the stolen cash and silver. The gold had already been pledged, but police assured it will be recovered.
Police Officer Shares Details of the Case
An officer involved in the case provided more insights. "Until entering the house of the suspects, we thought the woman had two boys with her," the officer said. "But we realised one of the minors was a girl. She had intentionally dressed like a boy to mislead us."
The woman and her minor accomplices have a history of similar crimes. They were recently booked in theft cases by Nelamangala police. A few other similar cases are registered against them in different parts of Bengaluru.
This incident highlights ongoing issues with juvenile crime in the city. Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
