Bengaluru Family Files Police Complaint Over Daughter's Alleged Private Photo Sharing
A disturbing case of alleged digital exploitation has emerged in Bengaluru, where a 49-year-old woman has approached police with serious allegations against her own 23-year-old daughter. The complaint centers around the secret sharing of intimate photographs, triggering significant concerns about online safety and personal data protection within the family unit.
Family Background and Initial Discovery
The family, residents of Bengaluru for twenty-five years, consists of parents and two daughters living in a neighborhood off Mysuru Road. The father works as a cook while the mother is a homemaker. Their elder daughter is an unemployed BBA graduate, and the younger daughter is currently pursuing her studies.
The troubling situation began approximately one year ago when the elder daughter requested a smartphone for academic and career purposes. The parents fulfilled this request, purchasing the device in good faith. However, the family's concerns were first raised about a month ago when the mother entered her daughter's room during household work and discovered her engaged in a video call with an unknown man.
Escalating Concerns and Digital Investigation
The daughter immediately disconnected the call upon her mother's entry, which naturally raised suspicion within the family. When questioned about the identity of the man on the call, the daughter allegedly avoided providing clear answers. Concerned parents informed other relatives and attempted to counsel their daughter, but she refused to share details or reveal her phone password.
After several hours of persistent persuasion, the family managed to gain access to the smartphone. What they discovered left them deeply disturbed and frightened about potential consequences.
Shocking Digital Findings
According to the formal complaint filed with Bengaluru police, the mother alleged they found photographs of her private parts that had been taken while she was asleep. These intimate images had allegedly been shared via WhatsApp with a man identified as Varun, also known as Giridhar.
Even more alarming, the complaint states that the daughter had taken nude photographs and videos of her aunt—the mother's elder sister—while the aunt was bathing at their house. These sensitive materials were also allegedly forwarded to the same individual, Varun.
Messages recovered from the device suggest that Varun had specifically requested such images from the young woman, according to the police complaint. The discovery left the entire family terrified about the possibility that these private materials might have been circulated beyond the immediate recipient.
Family Intervention and Continued Conflict
Relatives advised the woman to cease all contact with Varun and ensured that the compromising images were deleted from the mobile device. Despite this intervention and repeated family counseling, the daughter continued to argue with her parents about the situation.
The conflict reached a critical point approximately one week ago when the daughter allegedly left the family home, informing her parents that she intended to marry Varun. Uncertain about the man's background and increasingly worried about the safety of all women in their family, the parents made the difficult decision to approach Bengaluru police on February 5.
Police Response and Legal Action
A senior police officer confirmed that the allegations are currently being verified through proper investigative channels. Law enforcement efforts are underway to trace and identify Varun, whose full background remains unclear to both the family and authorities at this stage.
Police have registered a formal case under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, indicating the serious nature of the allegations involving digital privacy violations and potential exploitation. The investigation continues as authorities work to establish the complete facts surrounding this complex family matter with significant digital dimensions.
