Bengaluru Family Shattered by Tragic Deaths of Couple Within Hours
A devastating incident has left a family in Nelamangala, Bengaluru, in deep mourning after a couple who shared over two decades of married life died within hours of each other on Friday. The husband's death is suspected to be due to a gas leakage from a geyser, while his wife later took her own life, leaving behind a heart-wrenching death note.
Details of the Deceased and the Tragic Sequence of Events
The deceased have been identified as Raju, 48, who worked as a driver, and his wife Meena, 42, an employee at a private bank in Bengaluru. Married for 21 years, the couple is survived by their 19-year-old son. According to police reports, Raju returned home from work on Friday evening and went to take a bath. His son, who had stepped out briefly, returned about 30 minutes later and knocked on the door. When there was no response for half an hour, he alerted the neighbors, who forced open the door and discovered Raju dead inside the bathroom.
Wife's Tragic Response and Death Note
The son immediately informed his mother, Meena, who left her office in haste. However, upon reaching Jakkasandra, where the family was constructing a new house, Meena hanged herself from a tree. In a poignant death note, Meena expressed that she could not live even for a minute without her husband. She also detailed the family's loans and assets, instructing that they be transferred to her son's name. The note concluded with the words "please forgive me," which police believe were directed at her son.
Police Investigation and Family Background
Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the family resided in a rented house where the bathroom lacked proper ventilation, potentially contributing to the gas leak incident. The couple were originally natives of Kunigal in Tumakuru district. Authorities are continuing their inquiry into the exact cause of Raju's death and the circumstances surrounding Meena's suicide.
This tragic event has highlighted issues of home safety and mental health, leaving the community in shock and the young son to cope with an immense loss.
