Bengaluru Businessman Arrested for Road Rage Assault on Senior Citizen
In a shocking incident of road rage in Bengaluru, a 41-year-old businessman has been arrested on charges of assaulting a 65-year-old man in the Kengeri area. The accused, identified as B Naveen from RR Layout in Nagadevanahalli, is also linked to a 2024 murder case that is currently under judicial review in the courts.
Details of the Road Rage Incident
The victim, Nanjundappa, was walking near Naveen's residence around 5:30 PM on Sunday. Naveen, who was driving his hatchback, became irritated upon seeing Nanjundappa near his designated parking space outside the house. However, Nanjundappa was unaware that Naveen intended to park his vehicle there at that moment.
CCTV footage obtained from nearby residences captured the escalating confrontation. The footage shows Naveen honking continuously at Nanjundappa, who responded by indicating that the entire road was empty and Naveen could proceed freely. Nanjundappa questioned Naveen, asking, "Why are you honking when I am in the extreme left lane and not blocking your car in any manner?"
Violent Outburst and Public Intervention
Losing his temper, Naveen stormed out of his car, verbally abused Nanjundappa loudly, and physically attacked him. Upon hearing Nanjundappa's screams for help, Naveen's family members, including two women, rushed outside to intervene. Despite their efforts to stop him, Naveen continued the assault, pushing Nanjundappa to the ground and attacking him by sitting on his chest.
By this time, neighbors, passersby, and other commuters had gathered at the scene. They collectively pulled Naveen aside, and his family members managed to push him back inside the house to prevent further violence.
Legal Actions and Aftermath
After receiving treatment at a local hospital, Nanjundappa filed a formal complaint with the Kengeri police. The authorities acted swiftly, arresting Naveen and producing him in court on Monday. He is now in judicial custody at Bengaluru Central Prison, awaiting further legal proceedings.
This incident highlights the severe consequences of road rage and underscores the importance of public vigilance in such situations. The case adds to Naveen's troubled legal history, with his prior involvement in a murder case still pending in the judicial system.
