A young married woman was found dead in her Bengaluru home under suspicious circumstances, leading to the arrest of her husband on serious charges. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Rajendranagar area of Koramangala.
Victim Identified as Aliva Majhi
The deceased has been identified as 23-year-old Aliva Majhi, a native of Odisha. According to the police, she was found hanging in her residence in the early hours of New Year's Eve.
Aliva had married Bharat Jena in April last year. Reports indicate that the couple's relationship faced opposition from Aliva's parents, but they proceeded with the marriage regardless.
Brother's Complaint Leads to Arrest
The case came to light after the victim's brother, Kruttibas Majhi, filed a formal complaint with the police. Based on his allegations, the authorities took swift action.
Kruttibas stated in his complaint that his sister endured continuous cruelty, verbal abuse, threats, and physical harassment from her husband and other members of his family after marriage.
The tragic discovery was made around 1:30 AM on December 31. Kruttibas rushed to his sister's house after receiving an alarming call from a relative, only to find her lifeless body.
Husband in Judicial Custody
Following the complaint, the Koramangala police arrested Bharat Jena. He has been charged under sections related to abetment of suicide and cruelty by husband or relatives.
The accused was promptly produced before a magistrate and has been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues. Police are looking into all angles, including the allegations of sustained domestic abuse.
