Bathinda Murder: Husband Arrested After Confessing to Killing Wife
Bathinda: Husband confesses to murdering wife

In a shocking case of domestic violence, Bathinda police have arrested a man for the brutal murder of his wife. The incident, which has sent ripples through the community, unfolded over the weekend in the Thandi Sadak area.

Husband Confesses to the Crime

Sahil Kumar, the husband of the deceased Ritika Goyal, was taken into custody on Monday. According to Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amneet Kondal, Kumar confessed to the murder. The primary motive, as stated by the police, was his suspicion that his wife was involved in an illicit relationship.

The SSP detailed the sequence of events. On Saturday, Sahil followed Ritika after she left her workplace. He contacted her, offering to drop her home. Once she was with him, he allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon.

Body Found Near Railway Station

The grim discovery was made on Sunday. Ritika's body was recovered from a secluded spot on Thandi Sadak, near the Bathinda railway station. The post-mortem examination revealed that the fatal injuries were on her neck, caused by a sharp weapon. After committing the act, Sahil dumped the body at the isolated location.

A Calculated Deception Unravels

Police investigations quickly pierced through the facade put up by the accused. After the murder, Sahil Kumar attempted to portray himself as a grieving husband distressed by his wife's death. However, inconsistencies in his statement and evidence gathered by the police led to his swift arrest within a day of the body being found.

The case highlights the tragic consequences of suspicion and violence within relationships. The Bathinda police have commended their team for the rapid investigation that led to the confession and arrest. The community remains in shock over the brutal nature of the crime that occurred in a normally quiet part of the city.
