Sahil Kumar, the husband of the deceased Ritika Goyal, was taken into custody on Monday. According to Bathinda Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amneet Kondal, Kumar confessed to the murder. The primary motive, as stated by the police, was his suspicion that his wife was involved in an illicit relationship.
The SSP detailed the sequence of events. On Saturday, Sahil followed Ritika after she left her workplace. He contacted her, offering to drop her home. Once she was with him, he allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon.
Body Found Near Railway Station
The grim discovery was made on Sunday. Ritika's body was recovered from a secluded spot on Thandi Sadak, near the Bathinda railway station. The post-mortem examination revealed that the fatal injuries were on her neck, caused by a sharp weapon. After committing the act, Sahil dumped the body at the isolated location.
